Other times home invasions happen when a locked door is penetrated by brute force such as kicking in the door. In my experience working as a Locksmith and Security Consultant it was very common to find home invasions thru sliding glass doors. 1. Get in the habit of locking your doors whenever you enter your home.

I have seen many, many doors of home where an invader either kicked in a door which had a deadbolt or used several crow bars to simply pry the door open shattering the frame. Many deadbolts are installed by a Carpenter not by a Security Professional so the majority of deadbolt locks are not secure. The door frame not the door is usually the weakest point.
